Jim Rome, anyone?

Mike writes:

There is indeed a "Jeff in Richmond", and he checks in a couple of times a year. You know, the clones are so vicious, they are still barbecueing him over his original bone-headed statement that he made, like 7 years ago! Ha! That's why they call it "The Jungle", baby! Clones never forget anything!

I don't know who won the smack-off this year, but all one has to do is go to youtube, enter smack-off 2009, and find out! You can also hear the best takes of the best callers, and I'll probably jump on there tonight!

My favorite caller, Terrance from Sierra Madre: "Hey, Mr. J-Stew,
You got moles on your dome, dude!
Ha-ha-ha-ha!
You always say that!"

These lyrics are immortalized in a song by a Houston band, 3-Day Weekend, in the song "Mr. Automatic", a tribute to Jason Stewart, the call-screener of the Jim Rome Show. The call-screener is immortalized in song! Ha!

It's just a part of what makes the JRS so much fun!

  1. I used to listen to Romie quite a bit back in the day. One of the more amazing radio interviews I ever heard was when Rome had Evel Knievel on his program.

A small snippet of that interview can be found on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-0Z9OAa2W8

  2. Beeg! You are so dead-on with your replies! I actually listened to that interview, which I believe was in 2004. It was a great interview, Romie can bring anyone out into the open!
Knievel was one rough dude back in the day, because he was the pioneer of these types of feats! Jumpimg buses, fountains, canyons...dude took a lot of heat, because there was no one else out there daring to do the things he was trying!
I have always had a great respect for Evel Knievel, he tried the crazy things that no one else would! Dude had solid stones!
